Skill Squad is Play Forwards flagship programme, providing an innovative, multi-sport skills development programme designed to increase children's physical activity, confidence, and enjoyment of sport.
The Foundations level of Skill Squad dives into the essential movement skills that power every athletic journey - including strength, speed, agility, mobility, balance and coordination.
Building solid foundations will make progressing through the later levels much more achievable.
Once the basics are locked in, it’s time to level up. The Fundamentals stage of Skill Squad introduces young athletes to the art of sport-specific movement—laying down the patterns that power precision, control, and confidence across every different sports.
The Developing level of Skill Squad challenges young movers to take their foundational skills and perform them on the move, at speed, and with purpose. It’s the bridge between controlled practice and getting ready to play against others.
This is the proving ground. The Advanced level of Skill Squad pushes young athletes into the dynamic, unpredictable world of real sport—where speed increases, decisions matter, and opposition brings everything into sharper focus.
The final stage of Skill Squad is Level 5, where children are challenged to perform their learned skills ‘in context’—in real-life settings that matter, such as a game or activity.
While learning skills and playing sport is fun, the real goal is being able to use those skills confidently when it counts.
Missions then add another layer of challenge, encouraging children to apply their skills beyond the session. Once they’ve completed a skill, they are given fun, practical missions to try at home or in everyday life, providing an extra incentive to keep learning and improving.

Grip is strong, steady, and always ready to help. He loves climbing, lifting, and using his physical and mental strength to take on tough challenges.

“Come and bounce with me!”
Bounce is always full of energy and can’t stop leaping around. She loves jumping, hurdling, and racing her friends.
Fave sports: Athletics, Basketball, Trampolining

“Let’s stretch and twist together!”
Twist is bright, bendy, and loves to move in creative ways. He enjoys stretching, balancing, and trying new gymnastics tricks.
